Course Details : Vestibular Disorders

Course Description

This 2 day evidence-based course will expand your  understanding of evaluation and interventions for patients with common vestibular dysfunctions. An understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the  vestibular system is necessary to help differentiate between peripheral and central  origins of patient symptoms. The concentration of the course will be on  assessment and how to treat appropriately using evidence-based approaches. This  will be enforced by interactive lecture and laboratory sessions. This  combination of lecture and lab will assist you in immediate application in the  clinical setting.     

Course Objectives

 At the end of the course the learner will:

1. Improve the evaluation and assessment of common vestibular disorders.
2. Differentiate common vestibular disorders.
3. Differentiate between peripheral and central vestibular disorders that are within our scope  to treat.
4. Establish appropriate interventions for common vestibular disorders.
5. Establish competent clinicians that can efficiently assess and treat patients with evidence based interventions for vestibular conditions.
6. Utilize tests and measures for common vestibular dysfunctions.
7. Identify the examination findings that suggest appropriate vestibular rehabilitation procedures be initiated.
8. Provide rationale for appropriate vestibular rehabilitation evaluation procedures.  
9. Demonstrate oculomotor testing prior to intervention. 
10. Practice appropriate interventions for common vestibular disorders.
